Money does make the world go round … but for many businesses it’s not the only indicator of success.
At November’s Nillumbik HomeBiz Network meeting, three successful business operators will be sharing their stories on why money isn’t everything and what they consider to be their benchmark for success.
Agnes Chan of Slogan
Agnes overcame many obstacles to get her Apronbag™ into the market. After knock-backs from some major stores and copy cat attempts to replicate the Apronbag™, Agnes eventually found a way to enter the market and protect her intellectual property. She now sells her bags at a range of specialist stores and has won a number of business awards. Through her persistence and hard work, Agnes has gained a huge sense of personal achievement and recognition.
Lucinda Flynn of Going Green Solutions
Lucinda and her husband Sean launched Going Green Solutions as an on-line business in 2007, and have recently expanded to a shopfront in Hurstbridge. The business evolved from their desire to integrate a more sustainable and healthy way of living into their home, work and lifestyle. They decided that a business that could promote the many excellent products available by offering a full range of them from one place as well as educating on their use and benefits, would provide a much needed service to others who also wanted to live more sustainably.
David O’Connor of DOC Football Academy
David has been involved with professional football as a player and coach for forty years. He started his Academy in Singapore in 2001 and brought it to Melbourne in 2005. David has worked hard to promote the “ World Game “ through his Academy in Research despite being warned that it would not get off the ground as it was in AFL territory. Three years on DOC Football is flourishing. It opened its second Academy in Greensborough last month and registered the DOC United Football Club with the Football Federation of Victoria.
